Super Simple Peanut Clusters

Needing to find a quick and easy recipe to make for a fundraiser event, I made up this recipe with just stuff I had on hand.
2 ingredients and 10 minutes is about all you need for a quick candy to take to any event!
1 cup semi sweet morsels
2 cups cocktail peanuts (dry roasted works well too)
melt 1 cup chocolate morsels in microwave safe bowl-30 seconds at a time until smooth and creamy (no more than 1 1/2 minutes)
stir in 2 cups of peanuts until well coated. drop by spoonful onto cookie sheet lined with wax paper. pop in the freezer for a few minutes to harden. Makes 2 dozen or more-each cluster can be small as it packs a lot of flavor. Eat and enjoy!

The sun came out...I win!

After a spring storm overnight and looking like it was going to stick around, the sun came out and melted most everything away (at least on the roads anyway). About half way through the day, I decided to shovel driveway and sidewalk. Much to my delight, driveway was already melted and dry and most of the sidewalk too! Put another slash mark in the win column for flip flops!

Snow Day!

Spring weather in Colorado is funny- 70's during the day , snow storm at night , 60's melts all the snow, the next day it's 50 and then a big slushy snow storm last night = snow day today!

My kids get out of school, but I still gotta work (from home in my pajamas!)

Thirsty Thursday on Friday

"I could really go for a Pepsi, poured out of a glass bottle into a glass glass with tons of ice and a bendy straw...and I want to pour too much in so the foam runs down the side just a little"I posted this on my Facebook page yesterday because I was thirsty at work and coffee/water weren't cutting it any more. "What am I thirsty for?" I wondered. Instantly this childhood memory came flooding back!

My mom used to buy the 6 packs of glass bottle Pepsi when I was a kid and it was a real treat for us to share a 16 oz bottle just as I described above.

I'm not sure if I described it well enough to make your mouth water, but it sure did mine! Although, I do have to wonder if it's really about the Pepsi or the fond memory of the Pepsi?

Feast or famine

I've pretty much always had the 'feast or famine' lifestyle in one form or another over the years. Although it's never been on a grand scale like worth millions to destitute to millions, I can count on certain times of the year to be better than others based on my radio and freelance careers.

Thankfully, it is feast time for the next few months, so I'm crazy busy right now! And although it is repeat business most of the time for my video making, there is always a twist or two when it comes to my radio career!

My radio career is mostly one of "Sue To The Rescue!" I've been in radio a long time and with the consolidation of stations (usually 5 or 6 in a building), I have experience in most any format and can fill in at a moments notice. Although I have my own show on the weekends (http://www.bigcountry979.com/), I am usually called to cover vacations, sickness or other emergencies. A great gig if you like the flexibility and never knowing what you will be doing or when you'll be working ( I mostly do). The income ebbs and flows with it, so that is the down side.

The current twist to that is adding learning how to do morning talk show producing-basically making sure all the elements and the talents sound great! This is something I haven't done since the new technology, so I am a little out of my usual comfort zone. My first solo day was Monday, and it was a little rough around the edges! Even after 25+ years in the radio business, this was all new and I was a nervous wreck! I don't know who said it first, but I think of the quote, "Do something every day that makes you nervous" Mission accomplished! BUT, now I can add Morning Show Producer to resume.

Pat cubed

My mom's name is Pat and she was looking for an alternative to the "Hello...My Name is..." tags given out at the condo functions she and my dad attend while they are wintering in Florida. She asked me to make her a "less boring" tag with her name and condo number to wear to these functions.
In my usual fashion, I couldn't stop at just one, so I made three! These are made of wooden scrap booking tags, the beading and wire were already attached, so I embellished with stickers, mulberry papers, Stampin' Up! stamps (alphabet and dragonfly) embossing powders, chalks and distress inks (Tim Holtz). Now she can mix and match with her outfits!

A stamped flashback

This is a stamped tag magnet I made for my mom and dad in 2008...I forgot about it until I saw it on their fridge in Florida during my recent visit. Made with a pear from Stampin' Up!, misc inks and paper, colored tag, Dymo tape, plastic slide, chunky glitter and a clever play on words.

It's back to "Greality"

I live in a town called Greeley and us locals call it Greality-sometimes in fun, sometimes in frustration! Like any town or city, it has its quirks, good points and draw backs. To learn more about Greeley, go here

For my purposes today, it just means back to my usual life after a week vacationing in Florida. See previous post's slide show of a few highlights from the trip (apologies for my lack of knowledge regarding how to work with photo bucket slide shows-learning something new!)

Life is about to get incredibly busy from now until June: it's video season for me, so a couple of cheer team videos in the works, at least 4 graduation videos will be made, my son is a senior so there is graduation and a party, sweet memories video for the senior class, hubby's 50th birthday, After Prom party decorating which I chair (and the making of 250 senior souvenirs!) and (a hopefully successful) After Prom party, younger son's birthday and I'm sure a few other things I've forgotten...whew!

First order of business? Go have coffee with my friends-I'm going to need the caffeine and girl time to gear up!

off to Florida for a week

Taking off tomorrow for a week in Naples, Florida with the folks. Here's to a week of relaxing and fun with warm weather and no snow!

Although there is Internet access where I'm going I can't guarantee I will be posting anything due to it being a "vacation." So...I'll have lots to talk about and pictures to show when I get back. See you in a week!
